"What sets Fast Brake apart from other Indie-Alternative bands is the groove" - Hamilton City Magazine.
Formed in 2019, Fast Brake has been a staple Hamilton's Indie-Rock scene, focusing their sound on tight hooks, storytelling and unforgettable melodies.
In 2014, Founding member Dean Irvine met front man and singer-songwriter Steven Ghobril at McMaster University, both studying music. A few years later, their paths crossed once again at Western University while completing their Bachelor of Education. Steven invited Dean in for a jam and played "Riding With The Waves" and "Long Legged Lady", two soon-to-be unforgettable singles from their first album. They quickly discovered their compatibility for songwriting and shared love of Punk, Emo, Indie, Pop, Americana, and Alternative music.
Fast Brake launched their first show at the renowned Corktown Pub in Hamilton, Ontario. They've since performed at Lee's Palace, The El Mocambo, Festival of Friends, Concession Street Festival, Mills Hardware, Sonic Hall, and the Casbah. Notably, Fast Brake placed 3rd in the "Hamilton Tiger Cat's Battle Of The Bands", securing their position as a local favourite.
With solid musicianship, a signature sound, and an infectious group camaraderie, Fast Brake is not a band that you want to sleep on.
And most importantly...don't forget your dancing shoes.
